The latest incident of robbery holdap in Naga City had placed the position of Police Senior supt. Jose Edwin Nemenzo as city director of Naga City Police office  in trouble. Criticisms have been hurled against him, some have openly accused the official of doing nothing to resolve the problem and to put a stop to the operations of the elusive criminals. Cellphone snatchings, holdap and robbery holdaps and other street crimes occurrs in broad day light much to the dismay and alarm of civilians.

Last July 30, 2008 at around 1:45 in the afternoon, criminal elements in the once safe streets of Naga City had struck once again. Victims were a businessman couple engaged in the construction of government projects. A total of 700 thousand pesos cash and valuables were robbed from Mr. Edgardo and Mrs. Rosario Roxas who still found something to be thankful about despite the traumatic experience since both of them were safe and unharmed.

At this unholy time, I think the Naga City officials under the leadership of multi awarded local chief executive Mayor Jesse M. Robredo should take apropriate actions to curb crime initiated by unknown syndicates. Confronting Col. Nemenzo and asking his personnel what they have done to run into criminals will not help to resolve that shameful slap against authorities. Did PNP intelligence team conducted preventive measures despite of the past robbery holdap records? The city director I think should stand-up and prove to Nagueños that he had once became effective Chief of Police in criminal-torn Tondo. Nemenzo should leave his airconditioned office for proper manning of his unproductive men. He wants the media to leave him alone because he himself is ashamed to speak about the dismal peace and order situation in the City. He must prove his worth. He must act deligently and help the victims get justice. Other dismayed local officials should do also their part instead of blaming PNP officials why the motorcycle gang had once again rocked the city.

Drastic moves must be done! Looking for best city director should be considered. Some businessmen already issued their warning that they will stop their investment when the peace and order situation continues to worsen. Where is the “Maogmang Lugar”? There were foreign victims of
motorcycle gang somewhere in Magsaysay, as I remember. Where are the suspects? Did the family of a guard from Lagonoy that was killed in a holdap incident at Jollibee-Panganiban have had justice? How about the death of a businessman employee from Goa? Suspects behind these crimes, I believed has an end of operation. But until when must the victims wait, when other lives was once again claimed by these criminals?
